Ch 2, 8 sc in second ch, sl st in first sc.

Round 1: Ch 1 (does not count as stitch), 2 in each st around, sl st in first sc. (16 sc)

Round 2: Ch 2 as first hdc, *ch, puffst (3 yo), ch, 1 hdc*, continue *-* around, sl st in first hdc. (8 puff st, 8 hdc, 16 ch)

Round 3: Ch 1 (does not count as stitch), work in ch sp from previous round; *2 sc, ch 9, sl st in same sc, 2 sc*, continue *-* around, sl st in first sc. (16 sc, 4 ch9sp)

Round 4: Ch 2 as first hdc,* hdc in next sc, in ch9sp: hdc, 4 dc, 3 tr, 4dc, hdc, hdc in next 3 sc*, continue *-* around, sl st in first hdc, fasten off. (16 hdc, 4 petals)

Joining squares as you go

With this technique you can join similar squares, Flower in the Snow-squares or Gerbera Squares.

*Sc in 2nd tr on petal, ch3, sl st in same sc, ch 6, dc between last hdc on petal and first hdc, ch 2, 3 dc together, ch 4, sl st in same st = picot, ch 2, dc between last hdc and first hdc on petal, ch 6*, if this is the first square continue *-* around, sl st in first sc, fasten off.

Join with next square:

After sc on tip of petal: ch, *sl st through picot on next square, ch 6, dc between last hdc on petal and first hdc on working square, sl st through dc on joining square, ch 2

3 dc together between third and fourth hdc on working square, ch2, sl st through picot on joining square, ch 2, sl st in same st on working square, ch 2, dc between last hdc and first hdc on petal, sl st through dc on joining square, ch 6, sc in second tr on working square, ch 1*. Continue *-* around.
